Friday June 7, 2013 - A man, who appeared before a Makadara Court for voting two times in the March 4th General Election, has been sentenced to two years behind bars, for committing an election offence.
The man, who was a witness in a petition filed by former Nairobi Mayor, George Aladwa, publicly admitted before the court that he voted two times for George Aladwe who was vying forMakadara seat and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who was vying for presidency.
Daniel Nyakundi, was slapped with the 2-year term after he was arrested for confessing to have voted twice at the Kaloleni Primary school polling station.
In his naive testimony, the man told the court that he was given four ballot papers by a returning officerin Makadara and given 200 shillings to vote two times for Raila and two times for Aladwa.
Aladwa who was vying the seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) had filed a poll petition challenging the election of Benson Mutura as the new Makadada legislator.
