Thursday, June 06, 2013-Afterthe disappointing 1-0 defeat to Nigeria that all but dashed their hopes of qualifying for next year’s World Cup in Brazil, Harambee Stars coach adel amrouche has called on Kenyans to stand with the young side.
Stars put on a good fight but ran out of ides in the final third with the absence of skipper Dennis Oliech largely felt.
Nandwa hailed the performance of the team insisting that they will learn with time if the country keeps encouraging them.
“The squad is very young and what they need is continued motivation as they continue with their journey. We are focused on our upcoming matches and hoping to improve.
Meanwhile, Bob Oyugi one of the scribes of the game has blamed the lack of youth structures in football for the usurping defeat.
“There is great need for youth structures from the grassroots. We all missed Oliech in the game which should not be the case if the idea of football structures is agreeable.
Nigerian now top group F with 8 points and Kenya remain rooted in the bottom with 2 points from four matches.
Stars will travel to Malawi in a week’s time to play Malawi Flames on Wednesday 12 June 2013.
