Mandela has died.Making the announcement on Thursday night, South African, President
Jacob Zuma saidMandela, 95 died of lung complications. Zuma said his death marks a transition
of a life that changed South Africa forever. The former icon and the mostloved African man had been suffering from a recurring lung infection and he has been hospitalized for quite some time.
Famously referred by his Xhosa clan as "Madiba”,
Mandela has left a mark in South Africa since he was the first black President
after the fall of apartheid in South Africa.
“Our nation has lost its greatest son, yet what made Nelson
Mandela great was precisely what made him human,” Zuma said while making the
announcement on South Africa National TV.
“We saw in him what we seek in ourselves, and in him we saw
so much of ourselves," Zuma added.
