Friday, June 14, 2013 - Premier League Champions Manchester United have been handed a major boost in their attempt to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.
Reports had indicated that the Portuguese super star had agreed to a new deal at the Santiago Bernabue but Ronaldo has thrown the spanner into the works insisting that their is no new deal for him.
The 28-year old took to Twitter on Thursday to issue a statement saying that all the rumours regarding his contract renewal with Real Madrid are false.
Ronaldo’s contract runs out in 2015, and this has really thrown the cat among the pigeons after it seemed that it was a nailed on certainty that he wouldn’t be moving anywhere.
While Monaco have been mentioned, and it seems they’re willing to throw silly money at him, his former club ManchesterUnited have in recent weeks stepped their efforts to bring him back to Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has spoken to Spanish publication Marca to assure fans that his main interest is to ensure that Ronaldo stays at Madrid, and becomes a club legend in the steps of Alfredo Di Stefano.
