Friday, June 14, 2013-The Premier League champions will have to dig deeper into their coffers for the signature of the highly rated Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski after it took a new twist.
Apparently, the Polish international had agreed a deal with Champions league winners Bayern Munich in principle but his club put blocks on the move as they don’t want to lose their best players to the domestic rivals after losing Mario Gotze to Bayern.
Despite his promise, Dortmund are said to be adamant that Lewandowski will not join their German rivals this summer following Mario Gotze's departure to the Allianz Arena.
Due to this twist, the Red Devils would have to pay compensation to Bayern as well as a reported £25.5m fee to Dortmund in order to secure Lewandowski's signature, according to the Daily Star.
The 24-year-old has one year remaining on his current contract with Dortmund.
