Panic mode gripped the Judiciary on Monday,
after one of the closest advisers of President Uhuru Kenyatta revealed that, former
Chief Registrar of the Judiciary, Gladys Boss Shollei, may be the next Chief
Justice after
Willy Mutunga retires.
Willy Mutunga retires.
The staff at the Judiciary particularly at the Milimani were
very worried because immediately Shollei was sacked by the Judicial Service Commission
(JSC) two months ago, they chased away their colleagues who were perceived to be
the former registrar’s loyalists.
They now fear it
could be their turn to be kicked out since the CJ’s tenure is nearing the end
and Shollei who is a key ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta may be Mutunga‘s
successor.
Mutunga's tenure ends in 2016.
