The race for Makueni Senatorial seat has now became a family affair after the widow of the late Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo, Nduku Kilonzo joined the race to replace her husband as Makueni Senator.
This brings the number of those interested in the seat within the late Mutula’s family to two, considering that Mutula’s daughter Kethy Kilonzo expressed her intentions to vie for the seat on a Wiper ticket.
Nduku made the announcement today after attending a memorial service for the late Machakos Catholic Bishop Urbanus Kioko which was also attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
However, Nduku declined to name the party she will vie on saying she would disclose that at the later date.
Although, some reliable sources indicate that she could run on Charity Ngilu’s Narc Party which is a member of Uhuru/Ruto’s Jubilee coalition, due to the fact that the Lands Cabinet Secretary introduced her to President Uhuru as a possible replacement of the late Mutula.
Nduku’s announcement brought some confusion with Makueni leaders divided over who between Kethy and Nduku should replace the late Mutula.
