Monday June 10, 2013 - Afterrumour went round that MPs have triumphed over the salary body and increased their salaries to a whooping sh851, 000, Senators have also come out and want Serem to increase their salaries.
Speaking yesterday at Kanyakine in South Imenti, Meru Senator, Kiraitu Murungi, said that he would lead his fellow Senators to push for a salary increment saying they would not allow MPs who only cover a constituency to earn more than them due to the vast area that they cover.
Murungi, who also happens to come from the same Meru tribe with the infamous Mithika Linturi who led MPs’ show of greed for big salaries at the expense of poor taxpayers, said that he would champion the rights to fair remuneration for Senators.
Kiraitu noted that it was very rough for him to get used to ‘peanut’ salary that Serem set for them considering that he used to earn over one million as a Minister in Kibaki/Raila Grand Coalition Government.
