Thursday, June 13, 2013- who recently completed a move from Santos to Spanish Champions Barcelona to live up to his billing.
The 20-year old is currently the biggest name in Brazil and Pele believes he can match the heights reached by Lionel Messi or even outshine the four-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Pele said: "Neymar was undoubtedly the best player in Brazil. He now will have the experience of playing outside in Barcelona which will be wonderful for him.
"We are talking about two really good players, but the difference is that Neymar does not have the same experience as Messi, who already has extensive experience with Barca.
He continued:” "I met with the president of Santos, Neymar's agent and the player himself, and I said he could not go to English football, because the style of play does not suit him.
“I recommended he go to Spain, where technical ability is appreciated and they respect the players who always play with the ball.
"He must keep his characteristics and not change his style of play. I am calm because Barca has a way of playing and a system that fits well with Neymar."
Neymar signed a five year deal at the Camp Nou after turning down big money offers from Chelsea and Manchester City.
